Position of Computer Technician Apprenticeship:

Your major responsibility as a computer technician apprentice is to assist computer maintenance and software installation in order to help the Fort Zumwalt School District’s instructional program succeed. The Executive Director of Technology and the Executive Director of STEM and CTE will supervise your work.

Education Background:

You should have the following credentials to succeed in this position:

Background in education: You have to be enrolled in the proper IT or computer science courses.

Basic Troubleshooting Skills: It’s crucial to have a basic grasp of how to fix computers and other devices.

Knowledge of Different Hardware and Software Platforms: You should be familiar with various hardware and software platforms.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Troubleshoot and repair computers and peripherals.
Assist with installing and configuring computers and related peripherals in both stand-alone and networked environments,
Assist with troubleshooting wireless connectivity issues,
Install and configure software on computers in any learning environment.
Conduct routine, preventative maintenance of all systems.
Troubleshoot and repair computers and peripherals.
Assist with installing and maintaining classroom presentation technologies and associated wiring (e.g. Projectors, document cameras, smartboards).
Install and configure computers and related peripherals in both stand-alone and networked environments.
Install and configure drivers, patches, as well as system and client software.
Conduct routine, preventative maintenance of assigned systems.
Escalate technology issues to building technician or mentor as appropriate

Taking Care of Physical Demands

Not only are there cerebral challenges in becoming a computer technician apprentice, but there are also physical obligations. You’ll often have to bend, stand, reach, climb, and move about. You may occasionally have to push, pull, lift, or move things up to 50 pounds. You should be able to speak and hear well, have good color vision, and feel comfortable staring at a computer screen for lengthy periods of time.

Employment Agreement

The district, apprentice, and university, as appropriate, will arrange for your at-will work as a computer technician apprentice. The schedule and daily work hours will be established at the beginning of your apprenticeship.

Your work in this position will be continually evaluated in accordance with the Board’s evaluation policy for support staff employees and Department of Labor apprenticeship standards.
